Theseus, the son of Aethra and Aegus, is strong and bold man, who later in the story becomes King of Athens. In the book Theseus there are many adventures of his life, but one of my favorites is "Theseus and The Minotaur". Theseus had now just killed the Bull bull, but the gods send a curse on the land of Athens, because of what Theseus did. So Aegus, the King of Athens and the father of Theseus one day asked the gods "Why have you sent this curse on my country, Please stop the curse" And the gods replied " Send 7 young men and women to Crete to be sacrificed by being eaten by the Minotaur, then we will stop the curse". So King Aegus sent 7 young men and 7 young women to Crete. But Theseus decides to be sacrificed since he was the one who had caused the curse, because he knew he could kill the Minotaur, and promises his Father one thing," If I succeed I will come home with a White Flag!" When the 14 men and women arrive in Crete, Theseus promises them one thing " I will go in the cage first and kill the Minotaur". But he wasn't the first one in, and one of the 7 men died that morning. Adriane, the daughter of King Minos , had fallen in love with Theseus, and decided to help him, "Theseus, I know a way you will be able to get out of the maze , hold ball of string, and only go forward and down, then you will find the Minotaur."
Theseus thanked Adriane, but she ask him one thing, "Theseus if you kill the Minotaur, will you marry me?" Theseus replied, "Yes, Yes I will!" So Theseus was sent next to go into the maze, and he went forward and down, unitl he found the Minotaur. Theseus then fought the Minotaur and he killed him! He then finds his way out with the string, and finds Adriane. He and the other13 men and women escaped with Adriane, back to Athens, with a white sail, but on the journey , Theseus started like her less and less, until he finnally didn't like Adriane anymore. So he stranded her on an island, and left back to Athens. But he did not return with a white sail, he came with a black sail. And his father was watching from the mountains looking for a white sail, and when he only saw the black, he fell off the cliff, into the sea and died. Theseus now becomes King of Athens.
